Batam, Riau (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said Indonesia's armed forces have begun meeting key requirements for weapons systems and ammunition after the government stepped up efforts to strengthen the country's defense capabilities.
Sjafrie made the remarks after inspecting an integrated military exercise involving the army, navy, and air force in Lingga District, Riau Islands Province, on Wednesday.
"I have seen firsthand that the Indonesian military's combat strength, including its weapons systems, management quality and ammunition needs, from small-caliber to large-caliber rounds, are now being met," Sjafrie said.

He said the exercise demonstrated the military's ability to meet challenges in safeguarding Indonesia's sovereignty through the readiness of both personnel and combat equipment.
Sjafrie said the situation marked a significant improvement from several years ago, when the military still faced major constraints, particularly in weapons procurement and ammunition availability.
Beyond assessing combat equipment readiness, he said the military successfully achieved the objectives set for the joint exercise through integrated field operations.

According to Sjafrie, the achievement forms part of the government's ongoing efforts throughout 2026 to revitalise and strengthen Indonesia's national defense capabilities.
One exercise scenario tested airborne infiltration capabilities through the deployment of the Airborne Operations Advance Group near the drop zone at Dabo Singkep Airport, involving a CN-235 aircraft from Air Squadron 27 in Biak, the Air Force Rapid Action Force Corps, and Infantry Battalion 328.
