VP ensures effective wildfire response measures in Kalimantan - ANTARA News Kalimantan Selatan

Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has assured that efforts to handle forest and land fires across three provinces in Kalimantan are running effectively, following an on-the-ground inspection of current conditions and response efforts.

Speaking during a working visit to Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, on Thursday, Gibran stressed that fire control measures must be tailored to the specific conditions of each region, noting that local characteristics and operational challenges vary from site to site.

In his Kalimantan visit, Gibran toured Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, and West Kalimantan to assess the situation firsthand and evaluate response efforts undertaken by the government and relevant stakeholders in each province.

The inspection covered Palangka Raya City, Banjarbaru City, and Kubu Raya District to gather a factual overview of fire mitigation progress while ensuring that local operational needs are directly communicated to the central government.

"Effective response is not only determined by the ability to extinguish fires, but also by personnel readiness, adequate operational support, and the government's ability to respond to issues identified in the field," he remarked.

Therefore, he added, central and regional governments must ensure that any obstacles encountered in the operations are promptly identified so that solutions can be designed based on real conditions, rather than waiting for problems to escalate.
